Dancing on the Edge

92nd Street Y, Buttenweiser Hall1395 Lexington Avenue
Event Date:
August 12, 2013The company of Theatre Novi Most and The Russian American Cultural Center cordially invite you to a free staged reading of Dancing on the Edge, a new play about the legendary American dancer Isadora Duncan and her tumultuous marriage to the famous Russian poet Sergei Esenin. Set in the wake of the Russian Revolution, Dancing on the Edge brings to life two mythic characters whose outsized artistic and spiritual passions clashed tragi-comically with Russian society, the American dream, and each other.
New York-based playwright Adam Kraar has constructed a uniquely bilingual play in English and Russian. The staged reading will be directed by Vladimir Rovinsky and features Lisa Channer as Isadora Duncan, Sasha Andreev as Sergei Esenin, and Sergey Nagorny & Aleksandra Glinka in multiple roles.
Theatre Novi Most (Theatre of a New Bridge) is a Minneapolis- based company which seeks to combine the artistic traditions of Russia and America - building works for the stage that conjure new theatrical languages and build innovative bridges across artistic and linguistic barriers.
